What do you want? What would really make you feel like you are flying, soaring, living your dream? Really, what is it that you want, the thing you would move heaven and earth to have? Is it being healthy and losing weight? What are you willing to give up to obtain it? What kind of effort are you willing to put forth?
When would you be willing to do this? Would it be now? Tomorrow? Next year? When you are 70 years old and life has passed you by, if you get to 70. This is getting serious folks!
When I finally really started my lifestyle change, I made it my primary focus.
Yes, I was a mother, foster mother, business owner, writer and life group leader. However, I knew this, I wouldn’t be any of these for very long if I didn’t get a handle on making my body a temple fit for the God of the universe. I took it very seriously.
I went to physicians, specialists, chiropractor, physical therapist, trainer, holistic medical practitioner and cognitive behavioral therapist. I drove over 200 miles four times a year to see a specialist. I read every book I could find. I did all of this while doing everything else I had going on. It was do or die and I knew it.
The main thing I did during that time that really turned the tide for me was attending an accountability group.
I did my homework, asked questions, set goals and reported progress and set backs. I submitted to the mentoring process. I became accountable. I put my money where my mouth was. In other words, I didn’t just talk about it. I didn’t just pay for the group, I actually participated and moved forward.
The success gained in the group was because I finally laid down self-effort and submitted to God, a mentor and a group. It’s a process that works when all else fails. For those with extreme weight issues, I feel it is perhaps the ONLY process that works to change you from the inside out.
I certainly had success with this group when everything, and I do mean everything, else had failed.
Last year when God tapped me on the shoulder and told me it was time to write my story, I was somewhat afraid. Still, I had learned His leading and I could only follow what I knew He was asking me to do.
Then He led me to write the study guide. Following that He led me to speaking engagements and interviews. He led me to lead Sweet Grace Study Group.
From that group He showed me the need for an accountability group. I also understood the work involved. I’ve led many groups, taught adult Sunday School when we still called it that, done life coaching, led seminars and life groups, even done some online groups. I know it’s no easy task.
James says not everyone should aspire to be a teacher because teachers will be judged more strictly than others.1
Truth is, this is not my idea. I begged God to let me forget all about offering a group, even though I knew it was what was needed.
Can’t someone else do it, God? What if people don’t listen? What if they don’t sign up for the program? What if they think it’s too high? The what ifs will kill you if you let them. Here’s what I know, God called me to do this and it’s His deal so I must be obedient.
I know that He is calling many of you into this group, as well.
I sense His voice speaking to each of you. Sometimes I can even see you sitting at the table eating breakfast or perusing online while you are sitting in the living room watching TV and eating potato chips.
Forgive me, but I always tend to see things in pictures and I can definitely see and sense the wooing that is happening.
God cares a great deal about your life.
He wants you to remain here on the earth. He wants you to be whole. He wants you to be healthy. He wants you to be happy. And whether or not you believe it, happiness is not a pan of brownies. And just because I said that, sit back down. Don’t go mix up a batch
I spent thousands of dollars trying to eradicate my weight gain. Nothing worked until I began to work on me. I had to invest in myself, not just money, but time and energy. My whole focus became changing my life.
I know God is calling you to a Sweet Change.
I feel it profoundly. Many of you would not hesitate to buy the latest big screen TV but you won’t invest $87 a month for six months to set yourself free. We feel the problem is our fault and we need to fix it. We won’t spend money that’s just on us. We want to spend it on the family. Here’s a thought, what’s the family going to do if you are no longer here or your health takes an even greater nose dive?
You really can fly you know? It’s time to spend some money for flying lessons so you can soar and achieve the dreams you’ve always wanted.
Stop buying fast food. Stop eating out. Stop spending so much on frivolous things and invest in you while you still can.
This group is a monthly ongoing group. You can join any time and leave any time. But why not start at the beginning and take advantage of the special price for those committing for six [email protected] Doors are open now for registration. The first month session begins July 1.
