As I understand Five Minute Friday, Lisa Jo Baker gives one word each week and those who participate take five minutes to write about that word. This week’s word is one I couldn’t resist writing about. The word is Friend. Yes, I know it’s not Friday, but I just discovered this site. So, here goes.

5-minute-friday-1There are some friends who just get you, heart and soul connections you can never understand. Bonnie was like that. From the first time I saw her I knew we would instant friends.

She was my beautiful friend inside and out. Her smile reached to the heavens and beyond. It was the time of our lives where we were starting our own jobs, discovering our place in the world, miles away from all we knew.

We shared everything. Told each other our deepest hearts’ desires. And of course we talked about men, brothers, friends. Who we might marry. Who were just good friends.

I don’t know why the man I really loved never came up. Maybe it was because I had pushed him to the back of mind. We had dated over a span of two years, an on and off relationship. It was over. He had chosen someone else. I didn’t talk about it with anyone. It was too painful. He was the one I was to marry, but he had moved on.

Then, I went home at Christmas and he came back into my life. I went back to work, to my single life with a ring on my finger.

Bonnie was shocked. There was a part of me I had not shared with her. For that I am truly sorry. She was my heart and soul connection. She got me, but not all of me.
