How often do you change your mind? I change mine several times in the same minute. Ok, I admit it, I’m fickle.

Part of the issue is my DISC score is a solid refiner. That means I like to look at every possibility and how the decision will impact me or others.

Blog Header TSPEven though it may seem I changed my website on a whim, I assure much thought and deliberation went into the process. Let me tell you a little about it.

I began my writing career in the dark ages when computers filled a room at the local University. I bought one of the first Macintosh computers ever made. I published at least five newspapers and magazines on various Macs.

Write the Vision

When the internet became as popular as television, I started a blog. My life verse has always been Habakkuk 2:2 so I purchased the url,, and put it up on Weebly, a free site. I didn’t know .com was the best kind of url. wasn’t available anyway. I bought for 10 years. I didn’t know I’d change urls as often as I change clothes.

Later, I realized the popularity of Blogspot, another free site, and moved my url over there. I went there the other day. I still have followers over there. Interesting because I haven’t written anything there in almost two years. Blogspot is a great site and many use it. I had no real difficulties with it.

Just about the time I got used to using blogspot, I heard those who are serious about the craft of writing and want the greatest readership need to be on WordPress. I couldn’t figure out the self-hosting scenario and didn’t really know the difference between and

I put a quick site up on That site is still up, as well, though I haven’t published anything there on in a year. Still, I had 53 page views on that site on March 14.

Last year, I started on a journey of discovering how to build what I thought would be a magazine website. I had a vision of selling advertising and writing stories about how the real God impacts real people as they go through real struggles living real lives. I purchased the url which I was going to use on the platform I was already on and had now become familiar with.

However, is a site that does not allow advertising. If they find you are running a business using that platform they can shut you down. is the self-hosted site. You need a url and a host such as, which has 24-hour support hence the main reason I use it. There are any number of businesses who will, for a small fee, host your site.

I once again switched platform. I admit it. I am woman. I change my mind, often. If you are counting, that is four sites and four platforms.

Recently, I went through the Tribewriters course with Jeff Goins. It’s a great course for any writer or blogger. (Click here to find out more about it.) The encouragement for writers and authors is to have a website under your own name. When you are a writer, people usually search for you by your name.

I tried to buy Teresa but it was already taken. Really, give it back! That’s OK, though, because I was writing before I got married. After I got married, 36 years ago, I simply added my maiden name. There are no other Teresa Shields Parkers in the world, at least I don’t think there are. I am an original, a one-of-a-kind.

Moving a website url was a task that hurt my head to even think about. There were also the questions: Why would I do it? When would I do it?

During a recent writer’s conference with Wendy K. Walters I learned the answer to both these questions. I will do it because I made a firm decision to write a book. I will do it because I already have other books I want to write. I will do it because I want to help others write their books by offering editing and ghostwriting services.

When will I do it? Like they say, there’s no time like the present.  I called GoDaddy. They easily switched my domains and pointed my other two domains to the new one. It literally took less than five minutes.

Now, no matter which url you type, it will take you to will be the url under which I launch my writing and editing services. It will also be my publishing company. is a heartbeat of mine to tell true stories. All three of these reside on the site which carries my name.

Of course, I had to create a new look for the new website. I dabble a bit in design. I found an awesome background which incorporates all my favorite colors and put together the header for my new site.

My website has new digs which makes me even more happy than new clothes in my closet

The changes now position me to live out my purpose which has always been to write the visions and stories of people. Make the vision or story plain, clear and easily understood. Then, those who read it, like you, can run with it and make applications that change your life.

Changing your mind can be useful at times. Changing your life may actually save it.

What things have you changed your mind about?
