What is your mission while here on project earth?

Do you believe you have an anointing for something specific? Something you are uniquely qualified to do?

Sunrise over the Earth in outer space

Do you believe God has put a message in you that only you can share to the world?

Do you believe you are anointed to deliver this message?

“The Holy One has given you His Spirit, and all of you know the truth … you have received the Holy Spirit, and He lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what He teaches is true—it is not a lie.”1

Of course we all need teachers. That is a given. However in those things for which you have a specific anointing, you do not need any teacher except the Teacher.

I am 60 years old. I’ve been a writer, editor and publisher for over 40 years. A lifelong dream has always been to write books. However, it was just last year when I stepped into my assignment.

I am an author.

I knew I could write books. In 1995, I wrote a short book a friend asked me to write.

It was a marriage book for women, a companion to a book he wrote for men. I prayed about it and had it written in three days. It was not a book that ever took off widely. I wrote it as a gift to my friend.

I didn’t receive anything financially from it nor did I expect to. I had been married for 18 years so I knew something about marriage. Still I felt unqualified to write the book because I weighed over 350 pounds at the time.

How much one weighs does not disqualify them from the anointing that is on their life, but I felt it did for this topic. I felt I should be taking care of myself physically.

That book took me a short time to write. I couldn’t have done it in the natural. I knew I wrote it under the anointing of God. However, it was written so fast it almost scared me. He gave me a glimpse of what it would be like to step into my assignment.

Sweet Grace was written in two and half months. It took longer because it was a healing journey. God taught me a lot through that book and it had very little to do with writing. Most of it was solidification of lessons I have learned white traveling the weight loss journey. However by book writing standards, it was still a short period of time.

While I know I will be writing on more topics than weight loss, I know this topic is one that will be very connected with my writing. That’s why I know the books He has me write this year will continue to be centered around this topic. I’m still on the journey. I have more to learn and more to share. I have certainly not arrived yet.

The journey is not about arrival, it’s about the journey.

Many people helped me on my writing journey. After taking Jeff Goins’ course Tribewriters, I felt better equipped to write a more lengthy book. I learned how to launch a book. I had a tribe to draw from when I had questions.

Wendy K. Walters was invaluable as a friend, mentor and writing coach, not to mention one who handled all the details of getting the book in the right format and designing an awesome cover.

Searching the internet, I found out how to navigate Amazon.com to some degree. I knew my assignment. That knowing drove me to make sure I understood the details necessary to complete the assignment.

The greatest understanding and insight, though, came from the time I spent on my face before God. Those moments brought the connection to life. After that time, I could almost feel Him sitting beside me urging me on, guiding each thought and decision as I wrote.

Writing, for me, is such a place of connection with Him that I can’t wait to go there.

Your assignment may not be writing. It may be speaking, coaching, driving a bus, running a video camera, audio engineering, repairing computers, playing an instrument, singing, designing, crafting, praying, teaching or any of thousands of other assignments.

Whatever your specific mission is, realize you are equipped to do it. You have everything you need to complete the task, even if it means researching, listening to others, getting coaching to help you through. You know what you need to get the job done even if you feel unqualified to do it. You and you alone can gather everything you need to see it through.

Your anointing will carry you, guide you, march before you when you are ever mindful of and reliant on the Source.
